I imagine it's the same look exhanged between Jeff and me.

A Call for Spring -- Part 2

I know it's only February, but we're going to need spring...or at least some warmer temperatures.  We're going crazy in the house.

Lunch

This was my lunch the other day.  Normally, I don't take pictures of my lunch, but I paid through the nose for those strawberries and blueberries, so I'm saving this picture for posterity.  Go figure, berries in January in Indiana are not considered "in season", so the prices get jacked up.  But when the six year old is hanging over the edge of the refrigerator case begging for them, it's hard to pass by. 

Eye of the Tiger

Kindergarten homework is serious business.  Each week, this kid brings home a packet of work that is supposed to last him the whole week. 

Day 1:  Read the book to an adult; let the adult help you (yeah, right...Nick has no need for help.  At all.  And he'll tell you just that.)  Also, practice a small selection of kindercore words.  (The kindercore words that he mastered in October.

Day 2:  Read the book again.  Practice your handwriting.  Focus on the letter of the week and your phone number.  (Week after week after week.  I'll give them credit.  Nick knows his area code.  I'm not sure Jeff knows it, but Nick sure does.)

Day 3:  Read the book, yet again.  Now tackle the math sheet.  (Last week was count the number of apples in the picture and write the number below said picture.  Nick just looked at me like I was crazy.)

Day 4:  Read the book and answer the questions.  (The latest book was about fish.  It showed a man trying to catch three fish with a net.  The first question on the worksheet said, "Why do you think the fish don't go near the man with the net?"  Nick's answer:  "Because the man and his net are bad news."

I really think Nick's going to be o.k. with this kindergarten thing.

Christmas Recap

This was Maddie's preschool program.  She's supposed to be wearing a Santa hat, also, but she didn't want to mess up her hair!

Our fireplace on Christmas Eve -- cookies, stockings, a letter for Santa, and carrots for the reindeer.

Christmas morning -- Maddie put on her new clothes (that weren't especially meant to go together, but try telling her that) and Cooper got a telescope.  So far, all we can see are the neighbors houses.

Nick got enough Legos from Grandma and Grandpa to keep himself busy until spring break.

It was really a wonderful Christmas, but we're not done yet.  We haven't done Christmas with my family yet, as Brian and Janelle haven't made it home.  Christmas in July?  The stores can do it.  So can we!
